Our mission

What is our mission?

Fontweaver is built for type designers. Our mission is to reduce the effort of type design and let type designers ideate and build 10x quicker. There is so much nuance in type design and just as many chores. We want to make the process as easy as possible.

Fontweaver is the Cursor for type design.

To do this, we are building AI models to assist type designers with creating fonts and extending fonts. Our philosophy, is always to listen to our users. We are actively working with a group of type designers to improve and scope our roadmap.

Why is this important?

Type is everywhere. On magazines, books, newspapers, signs, instruction manuals and of course digitally. It has a long history with metal keys in the old days to now mostly on a digital file. However, one thing remained clear, which is that type designing is difficult! It is hard to make something beautiful, legible and performant all at the same time. It takes years for designers to master the skill and even more time to maintain the fonts. We want to change this.

Consider Chinese character (which have 98,682 in Unicode). A type designer should not need to design all of them. The idea, taste and flow should come from the designer, but the actual creation is a chore. Or consider a type designer exploring different shapes of O s, drawing each one is time-consuming.

Let software work while humans provide the ideas.

When did we start?

Active development of the product started in 2025. Our first working model was released in June 2025.

Who are we?

As of now, Fontweaver is built solely by me. This includes all the marketing, product and of course model training. My background is primarily on the technical side but have always enjoyed art and design. If you are interested in our mission please contact me!
